How’s your Advent going? Can you tell that you’re in Advent? Recently I have been praying with the story of the Visitation, and I thought I’d share a bit with you. Why? So that what we see happens to St. Elizabeth when Mary greets her, happens to us as well.
Luke 1:41 says, “When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the holy Spirit…” Just that simple. Take this Bible passage and bring it to prayer. Ask Our Blessed Mother to come visit you, to greet you, to say a special word to you. Ask her to make your soul leap with joy for the coming of the Lord.
Mary is the Spouse of the Holy Spirit. She carries Jesus within her, and when, in this “first Corpus Christi,” she visits Elizabeth, just by hearing the voice of Mary, her cousin is filled with the Holy Spirit. Ask the Holy Spirit to come, sent by his faithful spouse, to prepare us to receive Jesus this Christmas, and each time in the Eucharist.
Repeat throughout the day, or throughout the week, your plea: “Mary, greet me.” And then be attentive, because she will.
Come, Lord Jesus!
